BRESLE METHOD

NEW! Bresle Method - TQC Direct Sample Procedure (DSP)
TQC developed a new bresle sample method the "TQC Direct Sample Procedure" (DSP) that fully complies with the ISO 8502-6 standard and has huge advantages over the standard sampling method used so far. With an accuracy of 60 times, a significant increase in reproducibility and worlds only ISO 17025 certified patches, it is the ultimate procedure to use in arbitrary cases, read more...

In 1995 the ISO 8502-6 Sampling according to the Bresle Method was adopted. This standard is intended for use in connection with the determination of several types of contaminants on the steel surface. So far the standard has been used for determining conductivity and chloride concentrations on steel surface before painting or blasting the application.

To take a sample according to the Bresle Method, a small self-adhesive plastic patch a so called TQC Bresle Patch with a latex membrane and a known surface area is used. Then 3ml distilled or deionized water with a known conductivity is injected into the TQC Bresle Patch by using a syringe. For about 5 minutes the water is flushed 2-4 times per minute into the bresle patch by pumping it back and forth between the TQC Bresle Patch and the syringe. The water with dissolved salts is ejected from the syringe into the small 25ml beaker with the remaining water. The meter probe is inserted in the cup and the conductivity measured. In order to calculate the salt concentration in mg/m2 the actual increase in conductivity (in µS/cm) is multiplied by a factor of 6.
